Troubleshooting export failures

Here are some suggestions for what to do if your video export fails.

Updated this week
  1. Do NOT change file extensions

    1. Changing a video file's extension (e.g., renaming video.mov to video.mp4) does not convert the file. It only changes the file name and can cause export problems.

  2. Verify video file integrity

The first step is to ensure that your uploaded video files, including the original video, any outros, and B-roll footage, are not corrupted.

    1. Test playback on your device: Try playing each video file in its entirety using a media player on your computer or device. If a video freezes, skips, displays errors or doesn't play at all, it's likely corrupted.

    2. Try a different player: If a video plays in one player but not another, the issue might be with the player itself. To rule this out, try using a different media player (e.g., VLC, QuickTime, Windows Media Player).

  3. Check playback in our editor

Next, verify that your uploaded video plays correctly within our editor's player. This helps determine if the issue is with the file itself or with our platform's processing.

    1. Play the entire video: In the editor, play your video from start to finish. Look for any playback issues like freezing, skipping, audio problems, or visual glitches.
